Terms & Conditions
Little Sound Garden provides music and story classes for 0-5s with a focus on listening, language development and musical skills such as rhythm, pitch and pulse. Classes are planned and delivered by myself, Laura Ludlam, who holds QTS and a current DBS check. Classes are held in community venues or delivered in Nurseries or Preschool settings. Tickets may be purchased on my website, www.littlesoundgarden.com, or via Happity at https://www.happity.co.uk/little-sound-garden.
Bookings & refunds
To cancel or reschedule your booking, I need at least 48 hours notice so that I have time to book someone else onto the class. You can book a class up until 30 minutes before the start time. If a class is full, you can join the waiting list through the Wix members app. You will have 30 minutes to book a spot if it becomes available before it is offered to the next person on the waiting list.
In the case of extreme weather such as heavy snow that poses risky travel conditions, I may decide to cancel the class, in which case you will be offered to reschedule to a different session. If no other session is suitable for you, I will refund the cost of the class. This is also the case if I am ill and unable to deliver the session as planned.
If your child is ill with sickness or diarrhoea, I ask that you do not attend a class within 48 hours. If I have space in another class within the next two weeks, you will be able to reschedule (assuming the 48-hour period has passed since the last bout of sickness or diarrhoea).
Siblings under 6 months can attend for free. Feel free to breastfeed, bottle feed or change your baby whenever you need to during class. Each venue has baby changing facilities. Siblings older than 6 months or a twin can attend the session for £3.50 pay as you go or within the Family 6 session pass.
Social media / photo permissions
I may occasionally take photos or videos during classes or events but will only share these on social media, the website, emails or any other websites advertising my classes with your consent. You can opt out of this when filling out the booking form, either on Happity or my website.
If you have previously given consent and wish to withdraw it, you can do so by contacting me at laura@littlesoundgarden.com.
Safeguarding
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and is taken very seriously at Little Sound Garden. I aim to create a safe and welcoming environment for parents and carers to bring their children to my classes. All adults should be alert to any concerns about the safety and welfare of a child or adult, in the class environment or elsewhere. Should they have a safeguarding concern during one of my classes, they should pass that information on to me. Where I have a safeguarding concern or someone in my class has passed on a safeguarding concern, I will seek advice from the local authority social care departments in a timely manner:
Sheffield – children
0114 273 4855 (24 hours)
Sheffield – adults
0114 273 4908
Where I am delivering a class in a private nursery or other EYFS setting, I will pass on any safeguarding concerns to a member of staff either before I leave or, if that is not possible, I will contact the manager that same day to share my concerns and ask that they follow their own safeguarding policies to deal with it in a timely manner.
Behaviour
Parents and carers are responsible for their own children at all times during Little Sound Garden events and Musical Storytime classes. I endeavour to make all my sessions inclusive and accessible to all children, including those who may have special educational needs, so that everyone can enjoy and benefit from the session. If your child becomes very upset and it is disrupting the session for other children, I ask that you remove them from the group for a short time and maybe offer them a snack or a drink to help them calm down and return as soon as you are both ready. If your child is displaying behaviour that hurts or negatively affects others, such as biting or hitting, I ask that you address this with your child yourself. If it continues over more than one session, I will speak to you privately about how I can support you and suggestions around dealing with this behaviour. If it does not improve, I may suggest another session that would be more suitable for your child.
Where I am delivering sessions in private nurseries or other EYFS settings, I will deal with low level behaviour following common strategies such as praising positive behaviour, distraction, giving them extra attention or asking a member of staff to support that child. Where disruptive behaviour continues, I will speak to the manager of the setting regarding next steps and how that child can be better supported.
Health and safety
A risk assessment has been carried out for each venue where Little Sound Garden Sessions take place. This will be followed to ensure that health and safety procedures are adhered to at all times. Participants taking part in Little Sound Garden sessions do so at their own risk and as the class provider, I accept no responsibility for any loss, damage, expense or injury incurred by class attendees or their carers. I have public liability insurance in place.
Equality and diversity
Little Sound Garden sessions and Musical Storytime classes are an inclusive environment in which all families should feel safe and welcome, and no individuals or groups should face discrimination or harassment. Violence, threatening behaviour, harassment or abuse are unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
Privacy
Your privacy and personal information is important to me. Any personal information that I collect from you will be dealt with in line with my Privacy Policy, which is available on the website.
Snacks, hot drinks and hygiene
Any food and drink provided after classes will be prepared hygienically in accordance with the relevant food hygiene and safety regulations. Parents/carers are responsible for informing me of any allergies and take full responsibility for themselves and their children. Where hot drinks are served in mugs, I ask parents/carers to take extra precautions to ensure that children cannot reach them e.g. place mugs on a table or shelf out of reach. If you are providing your own snack for your child, I ask that you do not bring anything containing nuts in case another child has a severe nut allergy and ensure that the food is only given to your own child.
Other
Parents/carers are responsible for supervising their own children during the free play section after class and particularly keeping an eye on them putting the instruments or toys in their mouths. Should this happen, please wipe it clean before returning it to the shared area. If you think anything is unsuitable for your child to play with, please let me know straight away and I will remove it.
